SOOTY

Sooty
is a beautiful, male, black and white medium-sized domestic short
hair cat that came to live with us. Sooty was examined by a
Veterinary Cardiologist as a kitten and was found to have a very loud
heart murmur and multiple cardiac problems. He was also found to have
a severe Pulmonic Stenosis, which means that there is a narrowing in
the vessel that leaves the heart to carry blood to the lungs.
Unfortunately, Sooty is also faced with a septal defect, which means
that the wall between the left and right sides of his heart did not
form completely. We will continue to monitor Sooty closely as he
will require frequent echocardiograms due to his cardiac problems. He
may develop heart failure and his life span will most likely be
shortened. But for now, Sooty remains in good spirits in the comfort
of our home.
Update
Sooty
is doing realy well his heart problems are still his major issues
but he has been out and about a bit more during the nice weather
and seems he is more active in the summer and hates the cold and will
just find a warm spot to curl up in. He has had a recent heart scan and
his murmer has increased slightly but he does not show any signs of
discomfort and is still very happy in himself.
Update
Sooty
has just had a check up by the vet and is doing well, he is a little
overweight and needs his diet looking into as he will overeat given the
chance but other than that he is plodding on.
